Ein Gleichnis

Womit wollen wir diese Band vergleichen? Und durch welches Gleichnis wollen wir sie abbilden? Lasst es mich einmal so versuchen: Wenn Ozzy Osbourne, Herb Alpert, Billy Graham und Daffy Duck zusammen eine Musikkapelle gründen würden, dann würde das Ergebnis sich höchstwahrscheinlich ziemlich genau so anhören wie das aktuelle Demo von Must Build Jacuzzi. Die Jungs aus Illinois haben von Ozzy die kraftvollen Gitarren-Riffs und den leichten Hang zum Heavy Metal. Von Herb haben sie die Vorliebe für Blächbläserei und das Händchen für großartige Melodien. Wie Billy machen sie kein Geheimnis aus ihrem christlichen Glauben sondern singen fröhlich über Jesus. Und von Daffy schließlich haben sie eine reichliche Neigung zum ulkigen Chaos, wobei manchmal das Ulkige und manchmal das Chaotische überwiegt. In der Summe ergibt sich mit „Ska Isn't Dead...“ ein richtig gutes Demo, das trotz aller Unsauberkeiten viel Freude an der Musik vermittelt. Ich freue mich schon auf die nächste Platte und hoffe, dass es dann Osbourne, Alpert und Graham schaffen, die Ente im Zaum zu halten.


A PARABLE

Whereunto shall we liken this band? Or with what comparison shall we compare it? Let me try it like this: If Ozzy Osbourne, Herb Alpert, Billy Graham and Daffy Duck formed a marching band together the result would without doubt sound pretty much like the current demo by Must Build Jacuzzi. These guys from Illinois have got Ozzy's powerful guitar riffs and a light liability to Heavy Metal. They have got Herb's fondness for brass instruments and a knack with great melodies. Like Billy they are not cagey about their Christian belief and sing about Jesus happily. And finally they have got Daffy's opulent affinity to zany chaos in which sometimes the zany element and sometimes chaos prevails. Im sum, „Ska Isn't Dead...“ is a real good demo that, in spite of all inaccuracies, puts across a lot of fun of music. I am looking forward to the next record and hope that Osbourne, Alpert and Graham will make it then to keep the Duck in check.
